Autism Awareness Event: 26 October 2024

“The “Not a Disability but a Ability” foundation, spearheaded by the visionary Bongiwe Leepiloe, is hosting an autism awareness event that promises to be a day of enlightenment, empowerment, and enjoyment.”

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that involves persistent challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors. The effects of ASD and the severity of symptoms are different in each person. It’s not a disability; it’s a different ability that brings a unique perspective to the world.

In the heart of Tembisa, a special event is unfolding that celebrates this unique perspective. The “Not a Disability but a Ability” foundation, spearheaded by the visionary Bongiwe Leepiloe, is hosting an autism awareness event that promises to be a day of enlightenment, empowerment, and enjoyment.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of T-Shad in Tembisa, this event, scheduled for the 26th of October, 2024, from 9 am to 2 pm, is more than just an event; it’s a beacon of hope. For a modest fee of R250, which includes a meal, adults can immerse themselves in a day filled with insightful sessions led by a professional ABA therapist. These sessions are designed to equip caregivers with effective tools and understanding to support children with autism.

But it’s not all learning; there’s plenty of fun to be had as well. A play area brimming with activities ensures that children can enjoy their day to the fullest, free of charge. It’s a day where laughter and learning coexist, where understanding deepens, and where the community comes together to support one another.

The foundation is reaching out to kind-hearted individuals and organizations for sponsorships or donations. Your generosity can provide toys and equipment for the play area, as well as food and drinks for the attendees, creating a memorable experience for all involved.

To be a part of this inspiring initiative, contact Bongiwe Leepiloe via WhatsApp at 0719681034 or email Notadisabilitybutability@gmail.com. Your support can make a world of difference in the lives of those touched by autism. Join us in embracing the abilities within the spectrum and celebrating the extraordinary in every child.
